- What are your best accomplishments?
I'd say helping 2 different teams win state titles ( in 2 different states) and getting a college team to hit.380 as a team is up there. Really though I'm proud of the consistency of all the teams/individuals I have worked with. The training system has gotten kids to hit over 50 pts higher than normal both in batting average and slugging %. Really I have averaged a .330 team batting average with the teams I have trained.
- Why do you think your training system is so special?
I believe the secrets I know were god given and I just learned to move my ego out of the way so I could let the baseball gods help me develope these skills. Really the training system is fairly easy to learn and hitters start to get significantly better by the third lessons.
- hat is your favorite scenario to be put in?
I like it when a struggling team calls me during the season and I am challanged to get that team hitting as soon as possible so their season is salvagable. This training system is simple, works quik, and provides lots of energy to team chemistry.
- How long would it take you to fix a struggling professional team?
In my mind if professional hitters are hitting under .275 then there is a problem that is fixable right away. I could get a pro out of his slump in days!! Most pros spend too much time diagnosing or overthinking their swings in the film room....where what I see and I can fix can't be scene on film unless you can see the muscles under their skin working.
- What would happen if your training system was in the minor leagues?
If my training system was in the minor leagues I could see those teams being the best hitting teams in their league. My goal would to get minor league teams to hit .300 or over as a team which is 60 pts better than what they can do now. They defintely would out slug everybody and I know it would prepare the players to move up to the next level in record time. For management, they would have so many good hitters, that trades and player developement would be lucrative. Such as the book "Money Ball" you wouldn't need necessarily the best players, but the best developed players.
- What would be the perfect scenario for developing players/teams?
If they all went through my training system and were regularily trained and moniterd on the effects of nutrition, speed/agility/strenght training, and confidence/mental toughness education. That would be the greatest scenario and within a very short time I can almost guarentee that this team/organization would be a championship caliber team.
- What was it like to be Ted Williams' son personal hitting coach?
Quite frankly I liked the challange of getting John Henry to hit even though he was 35 years old and never played college ball. In my book, "Tapping into the Spirit of Ted Williams", is the name of my book where you will find how everything worked out. I was honored to be the chosen one, but more enamored with making history by getting him to hit.
